The Philadelphia Zoo is seeking a Director of Interpretation to
create, develop
and coordinate the implementation of public education program
strategies.
Specific responsibilities include developing educational
concepts and themes
for new and existing exhibits, researching and writing exhibit
test and
incorporating state-of -the-art technology into programs and
exhibits. The
Director also serves as education consultant to management on
the development
of public interpretation for Children's Zoo, Treehouse and
through exhibit
interpretation, special events and publications.
The qualified candidate will have a degree in education or
museum education
with a concentration in life science, environmental studies or
conservation,
with a broad experience in and knowledge of education theory and
interpretation
and 5 years management-level experience developing and
conducting life science
or conservation interpretation. A post graduate degree and
experience in a
zoo, nature center or museum is preferred.
Salary to mid-$30,000 plus benefits.
