Dear Barbara:
The Western Reserve Historical Society in Cleveland has created an
educational program focusing on play. The new program, titled
"Playthings of the Past," takes preschoolers on tours of the
recently-restored nursery in the Hay-McKinney Mansion, the society's
Victorian home. As the youngsters marvel at the playthings of the past,
they are told about the lives of the three McKinney children and their
friends. Preschoolers are excited to point out differences between
their lives and those of the McKinney children and, more often than not,
they identify with the children who lived generations before.
For more information, contact Janice Ziegler, assistant director of
education, at 216-721-5722.
Best,
Michelle Crow-Dolby
