That's The Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago. Paramount Pictures
pretty much took over the place for a couple weeks in October 1995 to do
location shooting. (The book takes place at the American in NY; the movie,
from what I understand, is set in a generic institution.) From the stills
I've seen, it looks like they used a lot of computer imagery to rearrange
the inside of the museum.
Unfortunately, I hate horror movies and won't be seeing it myself...
