What sort of research do you need?  If all you need is a idea of how it
works and was installed, a quick review of old farm equipment catalogs
should provide that.  Any library that has been in business for long
probably has   how-to books on rural water systems that would include
water rams.  Patent numbers if any, on your particular model should give
you a rough idea of its age.  They were commonly available until the
1950's and may still be manufactured somewhere today.
