Our most recent issue of Time Magazine, (New Zealand Edition) reported
that a few museums around the world were starting to distribute audio
guides to all visitors that come through their doors at no extra cost.
These museums are presumably at least recouping their cost from the
voluntary donations of their happy visitors. Is this approach working
and is it a trend? Does anyone out there have first hand experience?
How does it affect front-of-house operations, budgets, security, and
visitor satisfaction? Are there pitfalls that we should avoid --
should we want to go this way in our new museum? Thanks,
