We are currently working on a set of exhibits that will deal with the
basics of digital systems.
Has anyone any experience of designing / building / operating / evaluating
mechanical, hydraulic or other non-electronic systems that behave as
simple digitizers / logic gates / calculators / computers, either passively
or under the control of visitors?
The sort of thing we have in mind has strong visual appeal and might be
quite large and clunky, perhaps made of wood, certainly nothing like an
electronic computer, although we are not ruling out simple electrical
components such as light bulbs.
We are particularly interested in exhibits aimed at the 8-12 year old age
group, but family participation would be even better.
