Youth Programs Coordinator
The Tech Museum of Innovation is an educational resource established to
engage people of all ages and backgrounds in exploring and experiencing
technologies affecting their lives and to inspire the young to become
innovators in the technologies of the future.
The Youth Programs Coordinator is a full-time, exempt position reporting to
the Director of Education & Programs. Under general supervision, organize
and perform administration and technical duties to coordinate planning,
implementation and assessment of youth programs including Pathways Interns,
afterschool, summer camps and others.
Responsibilities:
· Perform internship recruitment, assignment, and evaluation.
· Coordinate training for and supervision of interns.
· Work with other departments to ensure the smooth operation of internship
and other youth programs.
· Acquire knowledge and understanding of The Tech policies and procedures.
Apply this knowledge to youth program coordination. Communicate policies
and procedures to programs participants.
· Collaborate with Media/Community Relations Manager for youth outreach to
community organizations/groups.
· Coordinate and support intern mentoring program.
· Plan and develop administrative procedures for youth programs
implementation.
· Design, collect, analyze and report program assessment.
· Implement procedures for long term data collection on Pathways Interns
and other youth programs.
· Contribute to Education and Public Programs development.
· Assist with grant proposal development, preparation, implementation and
reporting.
· Conduct research and prepare programs reports.
· Assist with Education Department and museum special events.
· Participate in professional development programs for The Tech and
specific to youth programs.
· Work as Museum Manager or Assistant Museum Manager on assigned weekend
days and holiday.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
· College degree emphasizing human resources, sociology or equivalent.
· 2+ years of experience working with youth programs is required.
· Previous experience with grant proposal development and working with
diverse group of people desirable.
· Ability to communicate and work well with people of all ages and
backgrounds.
· Ability to speak a second language desirable.
· Enthusiasm for working in an environment committed to learning and
providing superior visitor experiences.
· Ability to coordinate and implement diverse activities simultaneously.
· Ability to work a flexible schedule is required.
· Friendly, positive attitude.
