Education Director. The Sacramento Museum of History, Science and
Technology--formed in December 1993 via consolidation of the Sacramento
Science Center and the Sacramento History Center, and also known as
"Discovery Museum"-- seeks a dynamic education professional to manage
the educational services of the Museum and supervise Education Department
staff and volunteers.
Basic requirements:
Any combination that would likely provide the required knowledge
and abilities.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in science, history, education or
related field of study.
California teaching credential is desirable.
Experience:
Four years teaching science, history or closely related
subjects.
Two years teaching children.
Experience teaching a wide range of grade levels and
culturally diverse students is desirable.
Two years supervising educational or closely related
services, including service development,
project management, and budgetary accountability.
Two years supervising staff and volunteers.
Compensation:
Salary range approximately $34,000-$37,500.

Challenger Learning Center Flight Director. The Sacramento Museum of

Challenger Learning Center. This full-time management (salaried)
position reports to the Executive Director.
Basic requirements:
Any combination that would likely provide the required knowledge
and abilities.
Education:
Bachelor of Science degree in science related field with
teacher certification.
OR
BS or BA in education with emphasis in science education
(MS preferred).
Experience:
Working with children; classroom teaching preferred.
Supervising and managing staff.
Administrating a department, program, etc.
Ability to:
Work effectively with students of all ages.
Communicate effectively with people of different
backgrounds and scientific knowledge.
Work with computers in a high-tech atmosphere.
Operate and trouble-shoot computers.
Create and foster an exciting and animated learning
environment.
Work a flexible schedule which could include evenings and
weekends.
Compensation:
Salary range approximately $25,000-$27,500.
