I thought the readers of this list might enjoy this story. Yesterday (April
Fools Day) I received a call from a client who wasn't fooling. They had
hired a museum employee without a background check required of employees in
that institution. The Chief of Security began the background check process.
They received the police report on the fellow and found that he had a long
list of offenses, the most serious of which were forgery, interstate
transportaion of stolen property, harrassing phone calls, receiving stolen
property, drug possession, and, get this, a murder in 1974, a murder in 1975,
and manslaughter in 1978!

How'd you like to be the guy who had to tell him that his services aren't
needed?

There's a lesson in this somewhere.
