The British Association of Friends of Museums (BAFM) has received a grant
of #20,000 (pounds UK) from the Carnegie UK Trust to study the training
needs of volunteers in museums and heritage sites. The seven-month project
will research the real needs of volunteers and institutions and go on to
develop syllabuses and training materials as well as establish the best
ways of funding, delivering and monitoring the effectiveness of training.
