The U.S. Department of Education has announced the next round of what
they are now calling "Technology Innvoation Challenge Grants." (They
used to be Challenge Grants for Technology in Education.)
Applications are due May 30, 1997. You can get more information from the
Department of Education at 202-208-3882 and also at their website:
www.ed.gov/Technology
By way of background, these grants link school districts to other
community resources, including museums. The Department in fact seems to
reward applications that include museums. Last year, the program has $23
million to spend -- this year, it has $57 million. The Henry Ford
Museum, to name one, is participating in a $6 million project of which
its piece is over $1 million. Information on previous awards is
available at the above website.
