LIBRARIAN/ARCHIVIST: Lehigh County Historical Society seeks a full-time
professional to manage its non-lending library/archive of 100,000+ items
documenting the history of the county. LCHS is comprised of the
genealogical/research library and 9 historic sites. Full-time professional
staff of 10 includes an assistant librarian. Responsibilities: Overall
management/development of the library including reference services,
collection management, library personnel, exhibition/publication/educational
program research, up-to-date finding aids, and collections conservation
according to appropriate professional standards. Reports to the director
and works closely with curators of collections and education. Required:
Master's degree in library and information science from an ALA-accredited
graduate program with formal training in archival management and 3 years
professional experience. Familiarity with MARC format cataloging, OCLC,
Internet, on-line searching, and electronic preservation/access including
digital scanning systems. Excellent oral/written communication skills, and
supervisory/budget/public speaking experience necessary. Flexibility, sense
of humor and ability to lift 50 pounds critical. Knowledge of MINARET
