Our board of trustees has several committees and sub-committee--for
instance, the Education Committee and the Collections Sub-Committee--who
meet with staff on a regular basis.
I attend Collections sub-committee meetings on a regular basis, and while
our executive vice president is at every one of them, our president has
never attended them.
I worked closely with the sub-committee to solicit their comments and
suggestions when we re-wrote our collections management policies two years
ago; the working relationship was wonderful, a good experience for all
of us, I think, and the policies were hammered out using the good minds of
staff and board. I think all of us on the staff are happy with the
outcome, and the sub-committee is proud of its role and satisfied with the
results, as well.
That's not the only time I'VE worked with the board, and in our 250+ staff
someone is working with committees and sub-committees of the board on a
daily basis.
