**Deadline for Proposal Submissions: April 30, 1997**
From intranets within the Museum sharing, managing, and delivering
collection information to our closest constituents (staff, volunteers and
visitors); to the World-Wide Web for delivering information to the global
public; to speaking the same language institution-to-institution thanks to
the development of standards -- successful communication is fundamental to
fulfil the educational mission of cultural heritage institutions: to
interpret and exhibit. MCN '97 session topics may address infrastructure,
software and/or hardware innovations, successful approaches to problems,
or any of a variety of technical solutions to communication issues.
Specific themes to explore are digital cash, distance learning and intranets.

MCN's Speaker and Workshop Leader Policy
MCN is a not-for-profit membership organization. Its funding comes
completely from membership fees and conference registrations. Its
conference is an opportunity for members to share experiences and learn
from each other and from experts in the field. Thus, MCN does not
reimburse workshop leaders or program speakers for expenses. It does not
waive conference registration fees for workshop leaders or program
speakers. Because MCN does want to hear from experts outside its
community, it does waive registration for the day that a speaker presents
a paper or panel. MCN hopes that these speakers will register for the
entire conference. It expects that a member of MCN who is presenting a
workshop or paper would be coming to the entire conference and does not
waive the conference fee. MCN hopes that a member of the museum community
who is not a member but is giving a paper will join MCN and will register
for the entire conference.
