In the UK the legal provisions concerning places where marriages may be
solemnised has quite recently been partly de-regulated and quite a number
of museums and monuments are now becoming licenced so that they can offer
both the ceremony and the subsequent reception in some cases, eg. the 12th
century Great Hall of Oakham Castle or the Royal Pavilion at Brighton.
It's probably too early to see how these developments will turn out.
