Western Kentucky University Department of Modern Languages and
Intercultural Studies, Anthropology Unit, seeks a bioarchaeologist to
conduct NAGPRA inventories. Full-time, 6 mo. position, starting
January 15, 1998.
Duties: Inventory all human skeletal material, associated artifacts
and archival materials; oversee data collection, processing and
compilation of results; write and submit required Federal reports.
Minimum qualifications are MA/MS in archaeology or physical
anthropology, with specialization in the analysis of human skeletal
material, mastery of fragmented and commingled remains, demonstrated
ability to carry research to completion. At least 2 years of
professional experience and/or specialized training including 6 months
experience in archaeological field research, and one year in a
supervisory role, required. Proficiency in computer databases
necessary (Paradox preferred). Knowledge of NAGPRA and experience in
archaeological research in the Midwest or Southeast desirable. Salary
negotiable.
