Get High Resolution Hubble Images Through the Internet
NEW! In response to your requests, we are providing high resolution TIFF
files of every publicly released Hubble Space Telescope image from 1994 to
the present. If you have the capability to handle electronic versions of
Hubble Space Telescope images, you can obtain them directly from our FTP
server or through our Web site.
By Web Browser:
1. connect to:
http://oposite.stsci.edu/pubinfo/education/informal-science/
2. select the "Image Library" link
3. select the "TIFF" link
4. select the folder for the year the image was released
5. select the image by press release number **
By FTP:
1. connect to: oposite.stsci.edu
login: anonymous password: (your e-mail address)
2. go to the /pubinfo directory
3. go to the /tiff directory
4. go to the directory for the year the image was released
5. download the images by press release number **
6. REMEMBER: transfer in "binary" mode, NOT "text" mode
** Currently, we do not have an index of press release numbers at this
location. We are working on a index and hope to have it available soon.
Meanwhile, you may check the number of a particular release by selecting
the "Images listed by date of release" option at:
