Kia Ora / Greetings
Before Christmas I posted a request for information on
standards/accreditation/registration/guideline schemes for museums and art
galleries. I received only two responses - one from New Zealand and one
from Australia!
What has happened to you Northern Hemispere colleagues?
We are about to initiate a project to explore the issue of a national
standards scheme for New Zealand Museums and Art Galleries. By this we mean
a scheme which will provide museums with a tool for measuring their
performance.
I really would like to hear from anybody who is prepared to pass on some
information - be it a bibliography, web site address, a brochure, or
contact address.
I have some information on the Museums and Galleries Commission Registration
Scheme in the United Kingdom and am also in contact with colleagues in
Australia who are developing their National Guidelines. I have also located
a web site for the US Accreditation scheme. Do you not have such schemes in
Holland, Denmark, Canada, South Africa or Israel? (yes, I am guilty of
lurking for a while!)
Thanks in advance.
And for those movie buffs amongst you - the facade and entrance of the 'old'
Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa building features in the Peter
Jackson movie "The Frighteners" just released in New Zealand
