Title: Assistant Developer, Community Project
Hours: Part-time, temporary position, approx. 3 1/2 days (25 hrs.) / wk,
partially flexible schedule, some weekend hours
Duration: Begins ASAP and is expected to last for approximately one
year
Compensation: Hourly salary $15/hr, no benefits
Supervisor: Community Project Coordinator/Developer
Responsibilities: 1 ) Assisting Project Coordinator/Developer and
other Project team members in various aspects of
Community Project exhibit and program
development
2) Content and field research
3) Administering formative evaluation
4) Administrative duties typing up meeting
minutes, assembling and distributing support
materials
Qualifications: 1) Experience working with 7-11 year olds
2) Experience working with urban and/or culturally-
diverse populations
3) B.A., with experience in Project content areas
(such as: urban or cultural studies, anthropology,
folklife, sociology, cultural geography,
environmental psychology)
4) Good written and interpersonal communication
skills
5) Team player
6) Interest or experience in exhibit or program
development
7) Experience interviewing or field data gathering
(preferably with children); this might include:
audience research or evaluation for exhibits or
programs, anthropological or folkloristic field
research, oral history interviewing, psychological
testing, etc.)
8) Typing, computer and office skills
Project Description:
The Community Project is an institution-wide initiative which includes an
exhibition, tentatively titled "Together!" (scheduled to open in fall of 1998)
and related programs. The Community Project aim is to provide opportunities
for children and families to explore what community means in their lives and in
the lives of others. The exhibit Together!" will focus on the many ways in
which people gather and interact. It uses the idea of "gathering" as a starting
point for an exploration of the notion of commu
