The Adler Planetarium and Astronomy Museum, Chicago, IL, is seeking an
Exhibit Project Manager. The Project Manager will organize and lead the
efforts of a project team to develop an exhibition that is effective for
its targeted audience, completed on time, and within budget. This position
reports to the Director of Evaluation and Project Development.
Duties and responsibilities include supervising and monitoring the work of
team members, communicating and coordinating the work of outside
contractors, preparing budgets and overseeing all project finances, and
planning an implementation schedule for the project, insuring that the team
meets all critical milestones. Also, the Project Manager may be called on
to develop and write funding proposals.
Requirements for this position are a BA or BS degree; 5 - 8 years
experience working in a team environment, supervising one or more
individuals; setting up a budget and monitoring expenditures; demonstrated
writing, verbal communication, and negotiation skills; and the ability to
organize and motivate a team. An MA or MS degree, formal training in
project management, and previous experience as a manager of a project
similar in scope to exhibit projects underway at the Adler is preferred.
This is a temporary position through 12/31/00. The beginning salary for
this position is $36,600 a year.
