Stephanie,

Another artist who concentrated on the Arctic landscape (and, by extension,
icebergs) was William Bradford (b. Massachusetts 1823-d. New York 1892).
His paintings are, in my opinionated opinion, among the most powerful,
beautiful and evocative of those executed on this subject during the 19th
century. Bradford traveled to the Arctic throughout the 1860s,
photographing, sketching and studying the region. In 1873 he published a
book titled THE ARCTIC REGIONS that was illustrated with his photographs.
It's even possible that the Cleveland Museum of Art owns a Bradford. If
not, I'm sure your American Art curator can guide you towards appropriate
books and collecitons. Good luck!

Paula Freedman
