I just got back from the American Studies Assc. Annual Conference where I
attended a panel ("Heritage Tourism and the Global Packaging of Identity") on
similar issues. The speakers were great. They were:

Doug Comer, National Park Service, Silver Spring, MD
Chris Wilson, School of Arch and Planning, Univ. of New Mexico
Sylvia Rodriquez, Dept. of Anth, Univ. of New Mexico
John Dorst, Amer. Studies, Univ. of Wyoming
Dona Brown, Dept. of History, Univ. of Vermont (a local and so maybe your
best bet!)

They are all tops in the field.
