Hi everyone,
I am an anthropology/museum studies/sociology student at Miami
University in Oxford, Ohio. I am working on my senior thesis, which
attempts to apply object studies approaches to the anthropology museum. I
am trying to study the museum itself as a piece of material culture.
Major contributers to the notion of the museum as an object of culture
include Susan M. Pearce, Kenneth L. Ames, Virginia Dominguez, and Carol
Duncan. My project thus far includes an extensive literature review and I
am putting together methodology for studying two anthropology museums as
"case studies," one in the university setting and one primarily used by
the general public. I would appreciate any suggestions on
books/articles or people to contact regarding this topic.
Thanks in advance.
