As a state agency ALL our accession files are open to the
public for inspection. We limit access only to the extent
that we ask people to make appointments, and to pay for the
cost of any copy work which they do. State law allows us to
restrict access to those files which contain site-specific
locational data on archeological properties, although that
law has never been tested.
We, of course, tell potential donors that our files are open
if we think there is anything they might be sensitive about,
or if they ask if the information provided is somehow
"protected."
