You might want to contact the Wichita/Sedgwick County Museum in Wichita,
Kansas.  They converted their former courthouse into a museum that utilizes
space in some very creative ways, (i.e. open storage, traditional gallery
space, children's area, recreated drugstore, etc.)  They might be able to
answer some of your questions.
