One of the best museum restaurants I have been to is at the Tathum Art
Gallery in Pietermaritzburg, Kwazulu-Natal. Local artists were asked to
design and create chairs for the restaurants and the restaurant,
therefore, feels like part of the gallery. The food is excellent and
inexpensive without been canteen style. There are newspapers and
magazines and it is definitely a place that would encourage me to spend
a large part of a day, even on my own, at the gallery. I do not know
about access and health problems associated with such a restaurant but
I think that it actually attracts people into the gallery and surely you want
them to walk through it on their way.
