Wanted:
Historian: Full time position for experienced professional to research and
provide written material in a variety of formats for exhibits, programs and
publications, and to develop, prepare and present adult on-site and
outreach programs.
As a member of the museum program and exhibit planning teams, the historian
will suggest, review, and select research projects;
set research project parameters, establish deadlines, and review and
evaluate research gathered;
and recruit, organize and direct staff, volunteer, intern, and freelance
researchers.
Qualifications:
Minimum of BA in American Studies, history, museum studies, education, or
related field.
Masters degree and teaching or public speaking experience preferred.
Minimum of three years experience conducting and coordinating research and
writing in professional projects such as publications and exhibits.
Succesful candidate will have demonstrable written and oral communication
and computer skills, be able to work independently and as a team member to
complete projects in a timely manner, and be familiar with American
history, history of the Pacific Northwest, and (ideally) the history of
southern Oregon.
salary range: $18,000- $20,000 with excellent health, retirement, vacation
and sick leave benefits.
