About 10 years ago there were several exhibits touring, and a
very good video called "Heart and Hand."  Also, if you ask
around there may be a quilting guild in your area, sometimes
as a branch of the Embroidery guild.  The members, if you find
them, are generally friendly and knowledgable, and they will
have taken notice of exhibits.
