UNIVERSITY RESEARCH COLLECTIONS:
THEIR HISTORY, USE AND PRESERVATION
A SYMPOSIUM
Sponsored by University of Iowa Collections Coalition
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 2, 1996
1 to 5 pm
University of Iowa Campus, Iowa City, IA
The University of Iowa Collections Coalition (UICC) will sponsor a
symposium to commemorate the Sesquicentennial of the University. The
symposium will address the broad topic of "University-based Research
Collections," and will take place Saturday afternoon, November 2, 1996,
Tippie Auditorium, Pappajohn Business Administration Building.
Supported in part by the University of Iowa Cultural Affairs Committee,
the Symposium will be free of admission charges and open to the public,
except that advance registration is required for planning purposes (see
attached registration form).
The program is designed for those engaged in academic collections and
those who use or learn from them. It will consist of a keynote speaker
prominent in the field of academic collections, followed by a session of
papers, and concurrent poster and workshop demonstrations. Attendees
will thus be able to hear papers of interest to them as well as view
preservation demonstrations and speak informally with poster presenters.
The UICC Symposium will follow the 54th Annual Plains Anthropological
Conference, October 30 - November, 1996 in Iowa City. The Plains
Conference is hosted by Office of the State Archaeologist, University of
Iowa. For information contact: [log in to unmask] or visit the
