Check the Museum Store Association Magazine 1996 Summer edition for the
cover story on museum store technology. They also did a great issue in
Winter 1993 on choosing systems. Although technology has been updated in
three years, this still has company names/addresses etc to contact for the
latest. Contact the Association in Denver at (303) 329-6968.
We use Point of Sale Inventory Management (POS*IM) from Ensign Systems in
Utah (801)-546-1616. It is one of few programs designed for Macintosh, and
is based on Excel. Barcode labels can be printed on the old ImageWriter
everyone has stashed in a corner, or you can buy a thermal printer. Very
easy to use with many functions-inventory manageemnt, Accounting,
Shipping/Receiving, Vendor data, mailing lists etc etc.
