I hope this forwarded message from Tribal College Journal editor
Marjane Ambler will be of interest to members of this list:
The fall issue of Tribal College Journal of American Indian Higher
Education will be devoted to cultural property rights. Articles will include: 1)
the Macah Center for Culture and Research, a model for tribal museums,
demonstrating a different cultural approach to responsible curation; 2) Tribal
Research Policies, global models for tribal communities to take control of
research conducted by outsiders; 3) the Log Cabin Project, a partnership between
the Smithsonian Institute, log cabin manufacturers, and the American Indian
Higher Education Consortium to build museums at the 30 tribal colleges in the
U.S. and Canada; 4) a Resource Guide for those seeking more information about
museum training and issues surrounding the implementation of the Native American
Graves Protection and Repatriation Act.
