State history: You might inquire from the State Cultural Center in
Charleston, WVA about the West Virginia Heritage Trunks distributed
to schools throughout the state. They were initiated and produced by
the Children's Museum and Planetarium in Chas. a number of years ago,
but I think may still be in circulation. Hands-on participatory role
playing with many many artifacts depicting early WVA history. It was
a huge success with 8th grade classrooms..the students learned to play
a dulcimer, make a quilt, have a spelling bee and an election, put on
plays with puppets, and many other activities suggested by the objects
and by the included Teacher's Guide. Bill Drennan is the head of the
Cultural Center. Good luck!!! Jane Glaser, [log in to unmask]
