I think that when requesting such user specific info. as how to
subscribe/unsubscribe or requesting info. on names and addresses, etc.
that the person inquiring should specify in their message to send replys
to them directly off the list.

I've noticed that lately the list has been rather crowded with messages to
individual people that could probably go off list, such as requests for
information, etc. Perhaps a rule of thumb could be to ask "Would more
than one person out of 1,000 be interested in reading this, or is it
meaningful to only one specific person?"
Comments?

Hi,
I have recently joined Museum-L and had a few questions about list
etiquette. When should answers to questions be sent to the entire list
and when should they go privately? I have been on lists that do both
and, while I prefer answering to the whole list, I will answer privately if
that is the way things work here.
Thanks!
Sarah
