Secretary
(full-time, non-exempt position)
The Adler Planetarium and Astronomy Museum, Chicago, IL, is seeking a
Secretary for the History of Astronomy Department.
The secretary must provide general clerical support to the department,
serve as department liaison to a cataloguing service, and accession modern
and rare books into the department book collections. Other duties include
administering the department payroll, purchasing transactions, i.e.
accounts payable and receivable, and assisting visitors to the
department's Research Center.
Qualifications include a high school education, one to two years
secretarial or related experience, and familiarity with accounting
principles. The incumbent must be attentive to detail and have the
ability to work with a diverse staff. Experience with museum work,
especially museum collections, and the ability to accept responsibility is
preferred. Knowledge of computers and office equipment is required.
Knowledge of Macintosh computers, Microsoft Word, and the 4-D database is
preferred.
