A couple more Smithsonian newsletters have new issues that
may be of interest to this list:
Anthro Notes - Vol. 16, No. 1 has just come out. Anthro
Notes is subtitled "National Museum of Natural History
Bulletin for Teachers" and, as the name suggests, is heavily
Anthropology oriented but in a non-technical way. Lead
article of new issue is "Ethnographic Film: Then and Now"
by John Homiak, Director of Human Studies Film Archives.
Anthro Notes is published free of charge 3 times a year.
To be added to the mailing list write: P. Ann Kaupp,
Anthropology Outreach and Public Information Office,
Department of Anthropology, NHB 363 MRC 112, Smithsonian
Institution, Washington, D.C. 20560. Ann tells me that
Anthro Notes is going to be available on American On Line
soon though I can't remember if that includes the latest
issue.
Smithsonian Runner - No. 94-2 March-April 1994 issue has
just come out. This is a small newsletter billed as "A
Newsletter for Native Americans From the Smithsonian
Institution ..." It has news of Smithsonian events,
publications, internships, acquisitions, etc. relating
to Native Americans ... has lots of news on the National
Museum of the American Indian. Lead article in current
issue is "Clovis people dug oldest well in North America"
reporting on Smithsonian archeological fieldwork at
Blackwater Draw in New Mexico.
Smithsonian Runner is published for Native Americans by
the Smithsonian Institution, Office of Public Affairs,
Arts and Industries Building, Room 2410 MRC 421, Washington,
D.C. 20560.
