Lori,
No help on an exhibit, but several years ago the Institute of Texan
Cultures did a small book and audio tape of cowboy poetry.  I don't
currently recall the title, but I'm sure the Institute's Shamless
Commerce Division can find it--801 Bowie, San Antonio 78205,
210/558-2300.  It was put together by Jim McNutt who is not the director
at the North Carolina Museum of History.  I don't have an address, but I
imagine that he is wired.  Good luck.
