I'm sure this is a rather odd thing to post to the list, but I was wondering
if there was anyone out there who has the responsibility for archiving,
accessioning, and storing of 7.5 minute USGS quad maps and 1:25,000 and
1:50,000 Defense Mapping Agency Maps. I've "inherited" a number of these
types of maps along with aerial "bluelines" (a number of paper conservators
have told me to simply destroy these things before they eat the collection
wholesale). I would be interested in corresponding with anyone who has any
experience in dealing with this type of thing, and would be interested in
how you store and access them (I have map cases, so it's not as "nuts and
bolts" as all that, what I'm really interested in is the different ways of
accessioning them for database and retrieval ease).
Thanks in advance!
