Here's what Susan Martin said:
|
| John A. Segreto was shot to death by police sharpshooters on Friday
| Jan 19 In Houghton Michigan after a 17-hour standoff in which he allegedly
| robbed our local bank, shot one teller, took two hostages, and then
| allegedly attached an explosive device to one hostage, with whom he
| attempted to flee the scene in the other hostage's car. The police disabled
| the car and then carried on a discussion over the evening and all night to
| negotiate her release. This failed. Extenuating circumstances: a
| 40-below wind chill, the worst blizzard in a number of years, the victim of
| the shooting is the relative of two members of the local police force. You
| who wish details on this tragedy can contact the Houghton Daily Mining
| Gazette (906-482-1500).
