The Adler Planetarium, 1330 South Lake Shore Dr., Chicago IL 60605;
(312)322-0821 has used silical gel conditioned exhibition cases in their newest
exhibition. Rather than attempt to condition the gallery space (an
impossibility) they opted for passively controlled cases. Although their
collection manager is no longer there, the exhibition staff may be able to
answer questions. The consulting conservator with the project was Chris Del Re
of Del Re Conservation Services, P.O Box 1218, Oak Park IL 60304; (708)386-9381.
Kate DeSulis, former Collections Manager at the Adler, will be presenting a
session on the project at the Midwest Museums Conference in East Lansing
Michigan, Occtober 30-November 2. Exact date to be determined.
