The La Plaza Telecommunity Foundation (La Plaza) announces
COMMUNITY NETWORKING ' 96: "Bringing People Together"
conference. In the tradition of the "Ties That Bind" conference sponsored
by the Apple Library of Tomorrow and the Morino Foundation in 1994
and 1995, La Plaza will be holding the foremost and most important
conference on community networking in 1996.
The cosponsors for this conference are La Plaza Telecommunity
Foundation, Apple Library of Tomorrow, and the W.K. Kellogg Foundation.
Participating organizations include: the Morino Foundation and University
of New Mexico-Taos Education Center.
The 1996 conference will focus on the practical issues surrounding
community networking, including tracks on Community Development and
Sustainability, Education and Technical Issues for building community
networks. Nationally acclaimed experts in community networking will be
presenting and holding workshops throughout the conference.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND THIS CONFERENCE?
Community network organizers: those who run existing networks or
those wishing to start new networks
Academics: those investigating and studying the National
Information Infrastructure, communities, economic development, rural economic
development, communications, etc.
Educators: those who are implementing systems for educational and
community use, including : distance learning, K12 projects, community
colleges, four-year colleges, and graduate study.
Foundations: those who are funding or anticipate funding community
networks or applications for the National Information Infrastructure,
including: community, healthcare, government, culture, arts and literature,
news, libraries, etc.
Government: Local/municipal government personnel who are considering
community networking as a method for community revitalization, economic
development, communications, and education.
