While revising my list of UK military museums, I found a most useful
reference book was Bob Ogden's _Aircraft Museums & Collections of the
World, Vol 2: Great Britain & Ireland_ . It appears to cover all the
aircraft collections in the British Isles, including many little
specialist collections not normally open to the public.
The book cost me 7.50 UKPounds and is published by:
Bob Ogden Publications
13 Western Avenue,
Woodley,
Berkshire RG5 3BJ, UK
Tel: (01734) 693276; Fax: (01734) 440954
The ISBN of this volume is 1 873854 07 2
There are other volumes in the series. The list at the back of my
British Isles copy gives:
Vol 1: Asia
Vol 2: Great Britain & Ireland (2nd revised edition)
Vol 3: Benelux Germany & the Nordic Countries
Vol 4: Austria France Portugal Spain & Switzerland
Vol 5: USA - The Western States
Vol 6: USA - The South Eastern States
Vol 7: USA - The Central States
further volumes are in preparation. All can be bought from the
publisher's address in Woodley.
The list of military museums, if you are interested, is accessible at
the URL: gopher://nisp.ncl.ac.uk/11/lists-f-j/history-sources/files
or it can be downloaded by anonymous ftp from mailbase.ac.uk where it
is in the directory: /pub/lists-f-j/history-sources/files. It is the
file called: military-museums. It covers museums in the UK only.
