I am researching the life and work of Eliza Haldeman, 19th c, Lancaster Co,
PA. Studied at Phila Academy of Fine Art, 1860-64; Paris 1867 pupil of
Charles Chaplin; Ecouen 1867/68 pupil of Paul Soyer and Thomas Couture.
Friend of Mary Cassatt. Her work appears to have been lost. I have
reference to one pencil sketch with a descendant but I am anxious to find
more examples of her work. She was accepted into the Paris Salon of 1868
(girl peeling potatos). From descriptions in her letters she worked at
figures and still lifes. I would very much appreciate any leads either in
the US or Europe; in the 1880/90s she lived in Milan and Geneva under her
married name of Figelmessy. Thanks.
