Several already exist. Probably the best is the Museums part of the
World Wide Web Virtual Library:
http://www.comlab.ox.ac.uk/archive/other/museums.html
run by Jonathan Bowen at Oxford. It includes not only comprehensive lists
of museums, but even a long list of about 40 OTHER LISTS
http://www.comlab.ox.ac.uk/archive/other/museums/lists.html
How about doing something different? eg write reviews of the top 20 in
size, or maybe make a list of _exhibits_ organised by subject, rather
trying to duplicate the existing lists of museums. (This is also likely
to be shorter since the number of exhibits is much less than the
number of web museums...)
