This may sound stupid but what if the guy can't hit the target any
longer? I just got bifocals...vision does deteriorate over time.....you
don't want to embarass the VIP. I guess I would ask what are you
commemorating? It is a commemoration, nothing more, and what would you
use the target for? As for using the gun...someone on your staff must be
able to assess whether or not this is detrimental to the gun. I'd worry
about what could go wrong...and that I was starting a precedent in using
it. We have used commemorative scissors for cutting ribbons but we try
to keep using artifacts to a minimum.
