National Archives Head Office Wellington, where I work, has an
extensive collection of war art (known as the National Collection of
War Art - NCWA). The majority of works in the collection are by New
Zealand artists. However, we also have a few 'captured' works by
German war artists. The problem is that I only have their surnames!
One is Datan, who worked in Northern Italy. The other is Landau, who
also worked in Italy and appears to have worked mainly with
watercolours. I know it's a bit of a needle in a haystack situation,
but does anyone out there know anything about these two? I have
searched most major art indexes and haven't had success. Please reply
to my E-Mail address rather than the list. Thanks, Tracy Sibson.
