Did you hear the news? On Tue, 28 Nov 1995 15:27:51 -0600, our ether
buddy [log in to unmask] spaketh thusly:

:)Our office is looking to organize and manage our small library of journals
:)and books. Does anyone know if there is software available that
:)can assist in cataloging and organizing these materials?

:)Also, is there software designed to handle mailing lists that can
:)generate the barcodes necessary for permit mailing?

Hello Mary!

Why yes, and in your own backyard too! <g> Surprise!

We publish a free-form, fully relational database management system for
windows called SPCS PrimaBase(R) that uniquely offers integrated barcode
printing and support for about 13 different barcodes types - including
US Postnet with Delivery Point Barcode (the USPS mailing barcode.)

It operates on a 286 w/1MB RAM (NSTL verified) and flies on a 386 -
that's what we use, nothing faster than a 386DX-40 in-house and we have
more than half a million fully indexed records flying through it.

A working trial version is available for download from our website, the
address of which is in my sig. The trial version is network ready for
1-4 concurrently operating nodes; versions are available which support
from 5-32 concurrently operating nodes. And, yes, the trial version
*will* print barcodes - on any printer supported by windows.

Install space of SPCS PrimaBase(R) is about 2MB - not less power, just
very tight code. It is very fast and quite easy to use. (I think we're
the only db publisher that actually uses its own product on a daily
basis for inventory tracking, mailing, shipping, invoicing, billing,
etc.) It's quite affordable ($199 single user) and we offer 20%
discounts to libraries, schools and charitable non-profits.

Hope that helps! Any questions, just shout - you've got the boss' ear
and e-mail address!

Best, Mac
