I am posting this notice for another office at the Smithsonian
Institution. Please note that this program is not part of the
workshop series sponsored by the Smithsonian's Center for Museum Studies.
FIRE, SAFETY & ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT
The Office of Environmental Management and Safety, Smithsonian
Institution, is sponsoring its annual fire, safety and
environmental management workshop for cultural institutions on
October 30 - November 3, 1995, at the Smithsonian Institution in
Washington,DC. The workshop is recommended for museum safety
coordinators and others responsible for administering a
museum-based safety program. The workshop is open to museum and
cultural institutions worldwide. Smithsonian participants are
also welcome. Specific topics to be addresed include fire
prevention, detection and suppression; chemical handling;
electrical safety; machine guarding; ergonomics and workstation
design; asbestos control; hazardous waste; radiation protection;
ventilation/indoor air quality; and construction safety.
Tuition for the workshop is $150.00.
