The best virtual museums I have seen to date are contained in one of Sierra's
best computer games: Gabriel Knight: The Beast Within. The gamer gets to visit
two of Ludwig II of Bavaria's castles as well as the Wagner museum. Comes
complete with Audio Tour, object and didactic label copy, and clickable art. The
catch is that you have to get to chapter 4 first. If you've done everything
correct, your character provides thoughtful commentary on the museum exhibits.
So why can't more of our web sites be so interesting?
