I thought this question sparked a smell in my memory... and sure enough, in
my file on strange museums I have a cutting from the Guardian Weekly,
10.2.91 on the Osmotheque de Versailles, 36 Rue du Parc-de-Clagny, 78000
Versailles; open on Tuesday afternoons and by appointment.
You can sniff famous historic perfumes on tiny pieces of blotting paper,
but they suggest a max of 15 per session, so as not to overload one's
fragile sniffer.
