Position Available:
Assistant Registrar
The University Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive, at the University of
California, Berkeley, seeks a 50%-75% time Assistant Registrar to assist
with management of the museum's art collections and the administration of
exhibitions.
Responsibilities:
Creates and maintains manual and computer records for all works of art.
Catalogs new art acquisitions.
Develops and refines record keeping systems.
Assists with administration of loans and exhibitions.
Makes shipping arrangements.
Prepares condition reports.
Monitors packing and loading of works of art.
Helps plan and implement inventories.
Assists with insurance reports.
Provides access to collection information and works of art.
Qualifications:
Knowledge of and experience with museum registration methods.
Art history background.
Experience in cataloging and researching works of art.
Experience preparing condition reports.
Knowledge of computerized record keeping systems.
Art handling skills and knowledge of packing methods.
Ability to manage complex projects and attention to detail.
Oral and written communication skills.
Proficiency in at least one foreign language.
Starting Salary: $26,930 (full-time rate) with excellent benefits.
